There's something faintly haunting about this new Amen Dunes track. It could be the way the sorrowful lyrics sit slightly behind the instrumentation, creating a sense of isolation and distance. Ironic then, that this feeling is mirrored in the title of the song, 'Lonely Richard'. I don't know who Richard is or why he's lonely, but the man behind Amen Dunes, Damon McMahon, sure as hell knows how to paint a musical picture.
The track is to be taken from the upcoming début album by simply entitled Love due out in May and will follow in the footsteps of two previous EP's - "DIA" and "Through Donkey Jaw". Here's hoping 'Lonely Richard' is an indicator of some stunning material to come.
