Blouse had their debut release by the same name in 2011, and it immediately turned them into an essential part of the 1980s shoegaze revival. Though elements of the trend started in the beginning of the 2000, Blouse managed to fully unfolded and extend it to a complete album. Yet, the tendency boomed so quickly that the LP sort of blended in with the rest of the 21st century wave of "the scene that celebrates itself".

In their sophomore Imperium, the Portland trio abandons synth and fuzz, but preserves their delightful weirdness and dream-pop sound. The aloof "A Feeling Like This" is a testament to both. Charlie Hilton's low monotonous vocals and the repetitive tune, layered over a foundation of sound effects and subtle distortions, create the feeling of being stuck in a prolonged moment of sedated levity. The avant-garde video, directed by Angus Borsos, enforces the surrealistic vibe with fragmentary psychedelic images. Overall: from shoegaze all the way to trippy-town, best-band-name-ever Blouse is worth checking out.
