Lightning Dust is a side project of the members of epic rock band Black Mountain. Amber Webber and Joshua Wells decided to move away from psychedelic rock and switch to way softer retro-sounding synth pop and I'm definitely liking what I hear.
They have three albums, Fantasy being the latest and they have released a month ago on Jagjaguwar (label of all time favorite Bon Iver).
"Diamonds" was the first track off their latest album and it is very gentle beautiful opening for the album. It is full of 80's synths and nostalgia. The lyrics are quite melancholic and just add up to the general feeling of the song. The track is soft, smooth and gorgeous. Check it out and you will see that it is one sad retro candy.
Webber's vocals and the feeling of the whole album can't help but remind of our beloved Chvrches. Probably it is time to extend the favorites list.
