Brussels Pony Club is a Belgian electronic duo founded in 2010 by producer DkA and singer and lyricist Parsifal. Influences like new wave, cold wave, and new beat contribute to creating a merge of blues and minimal electro, that makes you want to move, while at the same time plays on the innate strings of your soul. Their dark, sexy, kinky 2012 debut single Brussels Piano Club marks the start of an entrancing relationship between DkA's heavy house beats and Parsifal's deep vocals.
Parsifal speaks of the importance of darkness in their work, the infusion of darkness to bring out the contrasting light and the melancholia produced by this interaction. I asked him if art for art's sake is possible and he told me he didn't believe in art without a message, even if at times the message might come after the artistic creation. Music is the duo's medium to design a setting to bring forward an idea, and performing live allows is the direct communication of that idea with the audience - a rare luxury to an artist.
Parsifal shared with Stereofox eleven songs that inspire him. Listen to his great selection below:
Brussels Pony Club are currently putting the last touches on an EP that will be released by Berlin-based label Amselcom. Parsifal is doing a live solo gig at the season opening of club VOID in Plovdiv on September 16th.
