After I shared this song with a friend of mine he said that all the bands that use the word rookie in either their songs or name are great. I will have this in mind the next time I encounter it but for now I only have Funeral for a Friend - "Rookie of the Year" and Rookie town - " Cactus Swan" and they for sure confirm his theory.
As often happens a post-hardcore song will captivate me with its vocals. Not that the instrumental part is mediocre or bad - au contraire my friend, the fast pace rhythm with few break points lays a melodic foundation for the raw emotional vocals. "Cactus Swan" is part of the 9 track album New Forest Floors and I highly recommend you once you are done listening to this song on repeat to move on to the rest of the album.
