I have been a fan of Underoath for a long time but gradually have neglected the band, unaware of what they have been up to lately. I knew Aaron's side project and I really enjoyed listening to the first album by The almost. However I was in total oblivion of Spenser's participation in another band. I also did not know he has a brother that plays the drums in this same band.
The way "Quercus Alba" by To Speak of Wolves is structured reminds me of Underoath's "Some Will Seek Forgiveness Others Escape" song. It starts with mellow vocals and quiet piano chords in the background. Then at some point after the song has been gathering momentum Spenser's very familiar screams will intensify it. The song's overall character is an excellent mixture of energetic emotional outbursts of a peaceful mind.
