I've been dying to share this track with you since March of this year, when Joris sent a random cryptic message with a single private SoundCloud link. That faithful day, I found myself grooving in fashion that resembles Christopher Walken in Fat Boy Slim's "Weapon of Choice".
Today is the day we welcome back Alexander IV (aka Joris Feiertag) back to Stereofox Records with a lush 2-track jazz house release called Vanguard Groove. He and I met for a coffee back in 2023, and let me tell you this - besides exceptional drummer and producer, Joris is one of the nicest humans out there, so it's no wonder his music exhales so much positive energy.
On both "Vanguard Groove" and "Lost in the Valley", Alexander IV blends jazz-laced nostalgia with a laid-back, yet feel-good energy. Characterized by warm lo-fi textures, dusty drums, and mellow keys, the release carries this warm organic touch, similar to catching up with an old friend. This reminds me, Joris - if you read this, we're due for a coffee session!
He shares, "I absolutely loved making this record. I had the pleasure to work with my friend Bart Wirtz on the saxophone and Samir Saif on trumpet to give these tracks a real jazz feel. All the drums are played on my jazz kit. For these tracks, I was really inspired by the legend of jazz house music, St. Germain." If you want to dig into the current state of jazz house, don't sleep on Lu's latest editorial piece, too.
