I didn't need to read Alsogood's bio to know the artist is hailing from one of the most beautiful European countries, Italy. The talented multi-instrumentalist and founder of Italian trio Figùra is gearing up for his upcoming album, 1000 Smiles, scheduled for release on the 24th of April on Island Records, and today, we get a taste of it.
Blending the calmness of Italian 70s music with Brazilian grooves, "Feliz" feels like a trip back in time, not through eras, but through emotions and feelings. The song captures the beautiful nostalgia of the South blended with the carefree energy of previous decades. I'm absolutely floored by the beauty of this.
"With Feliz, I felt the need to experiment with grooves and atmospheres carrying a strong Brazilian influence. I wanted to weave together two distinct themes - one vocal, one for the horns - to bring melodic and emotional weight to a track that originally lived in a much more relaxed, laid-back space. It's about finding that balance between a grounded foundation and a vibrant, soulful energy," Francesco shared with us.
1000 Smiles will represent a 26-minute blend of hip-hop structure and jazz improvisation, which Alsogood shaped between Milan sessions and a four-day retreat in Northern Italy. The record will feature Datsunn and Johnny Marsiglia, and will build on the global momentum of his previous release Elsewhere. Expecting some of Alsogood's most complete and refined work yet.
Certainly, a record we're adding to our Upcoming 2026 Albums list we're excited about.
