I've been following Sascha Ring aka Apparat for quite some time and I'm pretty sure he is a musical genius. He's a Berlin-based DJ working with genres ranging from techno and IDM to instrumental music.

"A Violent Sky" was the first track released off his new album "Krieg und Frieden (Music for Theatre)". The album is out now, so I highly recommend checking it out. This album is a soundtrack for a theatrical adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "War and Piece" by Sebastian Hartmann. Apparat and a group of 30 musicians-instrumentalists, guided by cellist Philipp Timm and violinist Christoph Hartmann, have been rehearsing and recording the album in an abandoned factory for 4 weeks. Pretty epic, huh?

The track is haunting and mellow at the same time as the piano, drums and the vocals collide. It's a very emotional piece and of course with a gentle touch of moody beats.

Tolstoy would have been proud.
