It's somehow comforting (I bet I can use a better word here, but...) to see an artist evolve and change organically, especially when you "follow" that artist throughout that journey. It feels weirdly personal, if you know what I mean.

In times when often music PR and connections (or what's hip) dictate to a great extend what gets pushed above the fold, sometimes it feels music has become a mere product, rather than a way to express yourself. Anyhow. Now let's focus on what's really important - the journey of an artist I have utmost respect for - Jian Kellett-Liew AKA Kyson.

The young Australian producer/multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has been dwelling the streets of Berlin for the past 4 or 5 years is someone whose music could simply be described as touching. His debut release The Water's Way is nothing but staggering and utterly impressive piece of music. Now, a few years later and surely a dozen of fascinating experiences down the line of life, Jian shared with us the follow-up to that 2013 album. The new LP titled A Book Of Flying will take you on an ethereal folk-inspired trip. Sounds which would easily make you space out somewhere far away.

On Monday the 25th, a 100+ people crowd including Julian, few other friends and I, had the pleasure to experience first-hand the beauty of this record. Jian, joined by our friend Matteo (who also performs under the moniker Pavlov) performed an intimate and seriously inspiring gig in the awesome studio-U in Neukölln here in Berlin. Credit should definitely go to the light installation in the studio which added so much to the feeling of the gig.

This experience gave totally new perspective to A Book Of Flying which I have a hard time to put into words. That's why I'll let Julian's photos speak for themselves.
