Thanks to their odd but beautiful new release, "No Bad Trips", the recently formed duo Birthday in Texas has become one of my favorite discoveries as of late.
The Glasgow-based producers have created a style of electronic music that doesn't entirely fit into one box. Released via Seb Wildblood's imprint, "No Bad Trips" is a lovely example. The kind of UK Garage presented here is both playful and vibrant by virtue of the drums, while holding onto an emotive charm. This is brought to life by the chopped-up yet soulful vocal sample, along with the woozy, colorful synths floating across the mix. Based on their aesthetic, it honestly looks like the pair is having such a blast making music and connecting with people in the process.
