Our journey with Blackadder at Stereofox Records has been quite an inspiring one, and today he unveiled a true standout in his catalog, a track titled "Canopy".
The UK-based Blackadder continues to refine and hone his signature aesthetic with every release he puts out each month. On this new release, the dynamic, percussion-focused progression is a key part of why "Canopy" is able to snatch your attention and keep a firm grip from the begin until the end. Organic embellishments such as ethnic plucks and kalimbas brighten the mix with color, while the presence of the strings heighten the track's emotional charm towards the end. In many ways this is quite reminiscent of Bonobo's North Borders era and showcases a similar balance between intricate textures and immersive atmospheres.
"As the track unfolds, sweeping strings emerge and everything opens out into a vast, melodic space, like stepping into an open landscape with a river winding through it. It’s about movement, contrast, and the emotional shift from close-up intensity to something more expansive and free“ - Blackadder
