This week feels extremely special as we get to share with the world (part of) an album I found life-changing.
Calida Ray's There Might Be Light Above The Surface (pt. one) is here, and with it, you get to experience the wonderful and extremely creative world created by Freddy and all of his talented friends.
Today's spotlight shines on "Shine Down," featuring Osaremen Uwaifo's wonderful vocals. I think the song is one of the prime examples of Calida Ray’s ability to gently, yet firmly, move between genres. It feels empowering yet ethereal, soft yet assured, dreamy yet focused. A beautiful balance of contrasts that somehow never feels forced.
The track also features Antonio Ignacio Fortino Villarroel on bass, Leevi Lamade on drums, and Paolo de Jesus on trumpet. A galaxy of young and extremely talented artists in today's modern jazz/soul creative space.
