Cordelia Fox's "It's Coming Round" was one of my favourite soul tunes of 2024, and I'll forever praise Nasko for discovering this gem.
Now it's time to return the favour and spotlight her brand-new single titled "Forfeit". The song glides into a more raw and indie direction than her previous work. Inspired by artists like Charlotte Day Wilson, Lianne La Havas, and Rex Orange County, the song explores the uncertainty of staying in a relationship that feels both safe and fragile. There's something incredibly personal in the way Cordelia approaches songwriting, and before my first listen, I already felt connected to it.
I love her alluring vocals and the guitar melody on here, something that adds a gorgeous and timeless melancholia to the whole mix. Also, the song is fully self-produced from the ground up!
I hope you appreciate "Forfeit" as much as I do. The song slips effortlessly into the more introspective corners of indie r&b and alt-pop, if that's your thing. The kind of late-night jam perfect for a bit of alone time.
