The experience on Cortese's release, "Steven Charles," straddles a fine line between atmospheric and energizing thanks to the contrast between the drums and the melodic section.
Cortese is one of my favorite groups coming out of the UK right now by virtue of their moody brand of UK Garage. That's exactly what we're welcome to on "Steven Charles" as dreamy pads float over the mix, complementing the catchy vocals in the foreground. The main character in this experience however, is definitely the glossy lead, especially since it works so well with the shuffling rhythm section and the sturdy bass line.
