A song about love, loss, and finding peace in uncertainty, Cosima Olu's "Traveler" is the kind of sound that glides in an effortless motion until it reaches that special place in your heart.
The track, featuring Johan Christoffersson, is part of Cosima's brand new album In Between, released on September 25th. This alt-soul anthem champions personal growth and the ability to move forward, all that wrapped in a very mature blend of genres ranging from indie pop, soul and jazz music.
"Traveler" is one of those songs that is a prime example of the importance of leaving space in the instrumental for the vocals to truly shine. That being said, I do appreciate the little details in it that allows for a deeper listen and the ability to focus and find those intricate elements. Cosima's performance is outstanding and my favourite part of the song is towards the end where the jazz inspirations prevail. It reminded me of Bon Iver's 22, A Million album for some reason (2nd time I mention him today, weird).
If you want to experience more of the record, I highlty recommend Lu's feature of "Overgrown" from a few weeks ago.
