To my surprise, this is my first encounter with the work of Dahi - oh so I thought. If you've listened to rap or contemporary r&b over the last decade, you have almost certainly heard his production.

The U.S,-based producer, DJ, and songwriter is a towering figure behind the scenes, racking up production credits for the likes of Kendrick, Drake, Mac Miller, Travis Scott, and more. In fact, his upcoming album Black Boy is a star-studded affair that features Moses Sumney, Channel Tres, Vince Staples, and of course, Kdot himself. From this release with Childish Gambino, along with his other singles, it's clear that his sonic approach pulls from influences that reach beyond r&b and rap. The drums on "Running" paired with Gambino's inflections, feel closer to old-school afrobeat combined with soul music.

The cries of the trumpet and the warm pads inject a soulful essence into the mix, while the vocal performance oozes with passion and grace. His alternative approach to production and musicianship really has me excited for this album!
