Plenty was written and debated about Kanye West's recent habit of featuring in other artists' thank-you speeches at the Grammys but probably the most adequate and original commentary was released today by DJ Windows 98.
DJ Windows 98 is the nickname of Arcade Fire's front man and uber-cool guy Win Butler, who has mashed up two, as the cliché goes "contemporary classics" of their own genre - Kanye’s “Jesus Walks” and Beck’s “Loser” . Although quite unassuming, the end result sounds pretty amazing, balancing between West's hip-hop sermon of 2004 and the laid-back alt-rock anthem of the early 1990s. And I don't want to speculate on a hidden subtext in the title of the mash up, but if I did, I'd say it was pretty evident who was the loser of the breakdown at the Grammys.
