Despite the fact that Ef have always been described as one of the key and very influential bands in the post-rock genre, I only got into their music not more than a few months ago. For some reason there was always something in the way and I couldn't properly listen to their stuff. I knew they were good, but that was as far as I could say before listening to their last album Ceremonies released in September, 2013.
Hailing from Sweden, these post-rockers surely know how to captivate someone's attention. I won't discuss their previous work as I've mainly focused on this last album, but I gotta say - it's a true masterpiece. It really didn't surprise me when they won first place in several polls of the post-rock communities. "Bells Bleed & Bloom" is so far my favourite composition. It's dark, gloomy and yet strangely positive. After listening to the whole track I feel two things - wanting to play it again and full of hope.
