If you’re in Bulgaria on June 23-24, don’t miss one of the most magical festivals in the country - Electric Orpheus! Five live acts from Italy, Germany, Croatia, and Bulgaria, ranging from rock, through funk and psychedelia to live electronica:
CALIBRO 35: From Milan, Italy, cinematic funk outfit Calibro 35, celebrating their 10 year anniversary with the aptly named album "Decade". Throughout their prolific carrier they have been sampled by the likes of Dr Dre, Jay Z and many others. Calibro 35's unique sound can loosely be described as a mixture of Ennio Morricone's Spaghetti Western romantics, crime thriller soundtracks from the 60’s and the 70’s, jazz, rock, psychedelia and much much more. They’ve worked in collaboration with PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, John Parish, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Nic Cester (Jet). Here's what Rolling Stone magazine has to say about them: "the most fascinating, "retro-maniac" and genuine thing, that happened to Italy in the last years"
SEINE: Next on the list is punk-folk trio Seine from Croatia. Rising from the ashes of pop-noise collective Vlasta Popic, Seine have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting Balkan bands of recent.
NEOPIT PILSKI: From Hamburg, a Bulgarian-German connection personified by the much loved Rock'n'Roll duo Neopit Pilski.
SUBACT: From Dresden live electronic duo Subact.
FUMUS & NEBULA: From Lüneburg, the masters of analogue synths Fumus & Nebula.
