Incredibly happy to see the journey of Jakarta-based alternative R&B duo Galdive since the first time Nasko featured them back in 2019 ("Dear Matias") until a week ago when they dropped their new album Blue via Mom+Pop. I knew that Osvaldoria and Wiana are inspired and big fans of Galimatias, but I just realized that the song was probably written because of him (real name Matias Saabye Køedt).
Speaking of Blue, the Internet is now crazy about the talented duo, and if you browse TikTok on a daily basis you'll probably stumble upon someone sharing their music. Inspired by the futuristic production style of Galimatias, I feel they have elevated their sound, and I absolutely love the dreamy nostalgia of Wiana's vocals. They certainly continue to perfect their dreamy, laid-back sound on this new album, and I bet the record will be on many people's end-of-the-year albums list.
The very first time I heard the aerial 12-second intro and the spot-on way of introducing the drum, I knew I would be hooked for days.
This is just a track spotlight, but the album is a release worth diving into. I hope we get into a proper album review soon, too.
