Contradictions and chaos, albeit orderly chaos, are central to my life for some time now, and one of the best anxiety-relief medications I’ve found are tracks like “Slices Of Clouds.” This is the first of nine songs from Gasoline Monk’s new album GUM and it’s mesmerizing in its intricacy of keyboard-centric tunes, broken drums, and machine-based psychedelia.

As the song description perfectly puts it:

“ [It has] one foot in the language of jazz and the other in the future beat world. Together, they tell the story of a man crawling up back up from the hole where rock bottom lives. Also, the story of a man taking up chewing gum.”
