South London producer Hambling popped up in my inbox recently, and I'm glad I hit the play button.

With a sound that hints at Bonobo and James Blake, his glitchy electronic music has caught the ear. Laden with sparkling electronics and unique percussion sounds Hambling builds an intricate atmosphere using well-placed stillness along with an infectious vocal sample.

The producer had this to say about the track:

"Bright Lights was originally called 'Bright London Lights At Dusk', but upon reflection, I thought that sounded too literal. It was written with an image in mind - I live in quite a hilly, high-up area of South London with lots of views... I made it describe the feeling of looking out over London from a rooftop on a summer night. The vocal samples are supposed to represent the thoughts going through your head as you count all the lights in the distance."

Operating within the margins of experimental electronic pop "Bright Lights" absolutely nails it.
