I have a special place in my heart for il:lo's music ever since our staff writer Mike introduced them to me back in 2018. It won't be a stretch if I say that their craft was one of the initial sparks that ignited my true love for organic electronic and downtempo music.

Their new release "Ink" is a continuation of "Soldiner", which they released in 2022. The slow burner kicks off with a set of captivating strings which lay down the lush foundation of a meditative journey toward a mesmerizing sonic microcosm.

As always, I expected nothing less from the French Berlin-based duo. Powerful and captivating, "Ink" is the soundtrack of my rather laid-back and lonesome (in a beautiful way) Friday night. This kind of music can make me want to read and rave at the same time.

The duo elaborates on the new song: "Ink is representative of what we love to make, an aerial piece that mixes acoustics and electronics. Harps and pianos mingle with arpeggios and analog sequences. This downtempo piece is an invitation both to dream with its hovering and nostalgic samples but also to dance with groovy synths and drums."

I'm very excited about what 2023 has in stall for these guys. 2022 proved to be a milestone year for the duo with releases on Anjunadeep, Bitbird, and Future Classic, plus critically acclaimed remixes for CloZee, Emancipator, and Panama. Legendary names!
