Treasureseason is an alluring chillwave project by two talented artists (David Powell and Ida Olsson). Beautiful ideas traveled around the world, met when the time was ripe and gave the birth of Treasureseason. Listen to their music and read the interview below.

Alex : Please, tell us who is behind Treasureseason?

TS : Treasureseason are the sounds by David Powell and the voice of Ida Olsson. We met in San Francisco whilst studying there, and after a few jam sessions we decided to record some material and we still do, despite living in the United Kingdom and Sweden.

Alex : You released the self-titled EP Treasureseason digitally and on an audio cassette tape. Why on an audio cassette tape?

TS : We have always enjoyed the feel of something real to play rather than digital downloads. Whilst there is nothing wrong with digital downloads, we thought that self-releasing a tape would be more symbolic of our sound. Pretty surprised that we managed to sell them all too.

Alex : I read in an interview (PM magazine) that you are both students and I find it especially intriguing that a student in natural science is involved in music creation. Dave, is there a way for you to stay active in both Biology and your passion for music after graduation?

Dave : Well I would prefer to just stick to music as that’s been my passion for so long, but I guess I will probably take a graduate job in Biology if the music doesn’t quite work out as well as I wanted, but there are still a lot of decisions to make yet, just have to graduate first!

Alex : What about you Ida? You are studying Tourism and Hospitality Management. Are there elements of your education that you have applied in Treasureseason and vice versa?

Ida : I have always loved to travel and see new places and meet new people. I think this is a big part of my inspiration to perform music as well. Music is such a big part of traveling and it also involves meeting new people and being inspired by them. I can feel really musical inspired by places I have visited and I can connect many of the treasureseason songs to my own experiences even though Dave wrote them.

Alex : I saw few photos of your first gig. How did it feel to be on stage live for first time ever? ( sill me, I did not assume that they might have other project in the past)

Dave: I have played live before on stage at a Battle of the Bands in front of 1,000 people when I was 16 so it doesn’t really faze me. I just really get into it and enjoy the fact that people are watching our music you know?

Ida: I also have some previous experience from when I was younger about 10 or 11 when I did a few performances, otherwise it’s mostly been a few open mics and things like that. Our first gig in SF was really great though, It made me remember how much fun and what an amazing feeling it is to be on stage. I also had a lot of friends there supporting me, which made it even better.

Alex : What are Treasureseason’s plans and hopes for this year?

TS : Later this year we should have a vinyl release in about April, which is going to be pretty awesome. I guess we will just be playing some more shows and seeing how it goes over summer and it would be great to get some festival slots. But I think we will be playing some shows in London, Paris and hopefully Stockholm.

Alex : If you had the chance to tour anywhere in the world where would you go?

TS : Probably Japan would be pretty awesome; we have never been there. That would be great. But otherwise I guess just anywhere and everywhere that would want us to play, so hopefully in 2014 we might be playing a show near you!

Alex : When it comes to invitation for live performances do you prefer one location more than another (small clubs, open air huge music festivals, private parties, etc) or this is something that does not matter so much to you?

TS : We really don’t mind where we play. So far we have just played really small venues, no more than 100 people, but it could all change at some point hopefully. We would really like to play a festival because you get to go see lots of other awesome acts too. But probably the best thing was having our first proper headline show late last year, that was a real blast.

Alex : Anything you wish to add please do so and thank you very much for the wonderful opportunity!

TS : Treasureseason will be releasing more material in April.
