London-based Ivana June is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has developed her signature aesthetic by blending neo-soul, R&B, and Latin influences. One of the features that stood out to me on "Peppermint Tea" was the groovy but subtle percussive arrangements that colored the rhythm section. Floating over the slick drums are emotive vocals that are full of passion and surprises as we're welcomed to a variety of gripping moments throughout her performance. I certainly can't neglect to mention how her pop side comes to life in the chorus, where the melodies bloom into something instantly memorable.
