It's early in 2026, but I feel overwhelmed by the amount of great LPs being released. Last week, on Friday, J. Cole delivered the absolute perfection in the shape of his seventh studio album, The Fall-Off.
A record is a follow-up to his 2021 album The Off-Season and lists a myriad of great producers and features, including The Alchemist, Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, and Future. Truth be told, I haven’t had the chance to fully sit with it yet. Spanning two discs with twelve tracks each, it's a lot to absorb, but even in fragments, the gold reveals itself quickly. This feels like the kind of record we’ll be returning to and talking about for years.
Over the weekend, long drives between two music industry workshops gave enough space to explore it sonically, and it became a faithful companion on the road. Today, I decided to spotlight "SAFETY" because it was one of the tunes that instantly stuck in my head.
