If you're looking for a way to slow things down and embrace the beauty of summer's longest days, Jamie Leeming's brand new single "Thinking of Yesterday" will wrap you in a layer of melancholic peace and leave you rejuvenated.
One of the most prolific figures in today's jazz scene, guitarist Jamie Leeming is gearing up for his upcoming album Sequent. Jamie, who has previously collaborated with artists like Tom Misch and Alfa Mist, was first spotlighted by Nasko a couple of weeks ago with "Shore Embrace," featuring the magnificent Laura Misch.
Today's follow-up, "Thinking Of Yesterday" feels like a gentle drift through fading memories and paints a more in-depth picture of what we can expect from Sequent. With each descending guitar phrase, the track invites a quiet kind of nostalgia, while Kaya Thomas-Dyke's velvety vocals wrap around the sparse arrangement like mist in early autumn. Fun fact, Kaya is also the one who painted the album cover.
Going back to "Thinking Of Yesterday", it definitely feels like a slow burner that further enhances the 35+ degrees weather I'm currently experiencing. The perfect soundtrack to a summer lucid dream, delicate and haunting.
