The South-African/Dutch, Amsterdam-based singer just unveiled "Lookalike" today. With her signature vocal warmth, the new single offers a more groovy/upbeat take on r&b, neo-soul, and indie, with funky basslines & melodic guitar lines. Thematically, though, the song explores grief and loss "as love that keeps resurfacing" - and tells the story of how sometimes Joya sees her late brother in strangers.
"Lookalike" is uniquely beautiful, touching & hopeful, as it finds that delicate balance between sadness & letting go, emotion & warmth.
