Excited to share with you a song from one of our favourite Dutch soul / r&b artists Joya Mooi. Written just after she learned she was pregnant (congrats!), today's spotlight, “Pay Day”, is an intimate blend of indie and r&b. A combo I absolutely adore. I like the organic instrumental sound and how masterfully Joya blends genres on this one.

The song represents a personal reflection inspired by South Africa's payday ritual. It explores stability, time, and the deeper meaning of wealth beyond the material. Things we should always remind ourselves. There’s a hint of psychedelic energy towards the end, blending beautifully with the alt/indie-driven instrumental - a contrast that sits perfectly against Joya’s silky vocals.
