KIRBY has been known for being a songwriter for some major pop stars out there (the likes of Rihanna and Beyonce), but I feel like she deserves the spotlight for her own music just as much if not more.
"Superpower" is not only a very well-produced R&B track with impeccable vocals and flow, but it also carries a very important message:
"I wonder who I would be, had I grown up believing that being black is a Superpower... Believing that instead of capes, we were given skin that’s so varied and complex; we can be dark as the night or bright as the sun. This song is for the melaninated superheroes who walk this earth . Your skin is not your burden, your skin is not your curse, your skin is not your choice, BUT it is your Superpower."
