A lot has happened since Jemma introduced me to Laurence Guy back in 2017.

The UK producer, DJ, and "purveyor of quality music" has taken the world by storm. His music has garnered significant recognition and popularity, garnering over 60 million streams and support from BBC Radio 1. Laurence's recent EP, You Do Your Best To Hide The Good Parts Of Yourself, was released under the Bristol-based independent label Shall Not Fade. Prior to this, he collaborated with Barry Can't Swim and remixed tracks for artists such as Dermot Kennedy, Sofia Kourtesis, and Leisure. He has a diverse portfolio of solo projects and remixes that have been published by notable labels such as Ninja Tune, Studio Barnhus, Late Night Tales, Mule Musique, and Church.

It's great seeing how beautifully his sound matured and grew in the past few years. He's also currently a resident at our favorite RINSE.FM.

Today, however, we're here to champion his new single - "On Your Side". The pulsating and enigmatic house is built around a pitched-down vocal sample and it immediately draws listeners into an energetic, but dark world full of twists and surprises during its evolution. "It was made after a breakup, when I moved back to London," explains Guy. "I was pretty down, and it’s about feeling you can’t communicate in a relationship and the frustration that comes from that."

"On Your Side" is the first piece of a trilogy of singles and will be included in a yet-to-be-announced project inspired by what Guy describes as the “push and pull between hedonism and the fog of the morning after, and the intensity with which you can feel both. Without the intense pleasure of the party, I wouldn’t feel the comedown in the aftermath; in turn, I would have no need to make a lot of the music I make.

Watch the official music video below. "I teamed up with Superglow to create a throwback to the house parties of my teens and 20s... a blur of music and energy that seems to escalate with every sip.", elaborates Laurence.
