A few days ago, Little Simz graced us with her long-awaited sixth studio album, Lotus. After a short setback and delay due to a movie shooting schedule, on Friday, the 6th of June, we got to experience this collab-heavy masterpiece that feels bold, personal, and intimate.

Each of the 13 tracks, titled with a single word, feels like a journey to self-discovery and a personal confession from Little Simz. A personal crusade facing the world head-on, confronting her inner demons, and calling everything by its true name.

I've chosen to showcase a track that gave me a much-needed sense of content and sense of calm. "Peace", featuring the lullaby voices of Moses Sumney and Miraa May, is a search for peace of mind. I spent a good 15 minutes just reading through the lyrics again and again, and every time they evoke different personal memories in my mind.

She thinks about where she begun and what it takes (I've got to find some peace of mind)
All the choices, her L's and her mistakes
All you can do is try, try your best (I've got to find some peace of mind)
So, if you can't give her wisdom, at least just give hеr grace

This is all a mere scratch on the surface when it comes to the track and album itself. I highly recommend soaking in the record, where you'll also hear some of the most prolific artists of our generation, including my favorite Sampha, Little Dragon's Yukimi, and Yussef Dayes.

Time and time again, Little Simz's authenticity and her unapologetic honesty shine and set an example for real artistry.
