From Within

From the bounce of the drums to the soothing vocals, in many ways, the latest collaboration between Mad Keys and DAMOYEE reminds us a lot of the 2016-2018 Soulection era.

U.S-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Mad Keys doesn’t fit neatly into categories as he blends hip-hop, jazz, soul, and electronica in an experimental manner. The track "From Within" is a marvelous example, and DAMOYEE further augments the signature aesthetic of Mad Keys with her dreamy, hypnotic vocal performance. The drastic side chain that appears throughout the beat emphasizes the loose but groovy bounce we're acquainted with on the drums, and I absolutely love that quirk about the rhythm. Glittery keys make up the heart and soul of the melodic section, adding a warm, radiant glow that softens the groove with a touch of elegance.
