Mimi Likes 2 Dance

Now this is good story. Back in 1999 Merle (Merwyn Sanders) released his 2000 (And We're Still Here) EP containing the track "Fannie Likes 2 Dance" which features his romantic interest at the time Fannie, showcasing her husky vocals over the playful, swinging melody.

Then earlier this year Merle brought out a reissue of the rare EP with now a track called "Mimi Likes 2 Dance" which features his new wife Mimi crooning over the same irresistible groove.

This amusing yet endearing move from Merle got a fair bit of criticism from Team Fannie supporters who claim the new version has it's original lo-fi edge. Personally this does not bother me in the slightest and when this plays all I can think about is how this is a delightful example of old school house music spiced up with disco soul.
