If you’ve been looking to switch up what you’ve been listening to lately, then don’t move! We’ve got a song that features a form of music I’m pretty sure you don’t get to listen to often - Qawwali (traditional form of Islamic song found in India and Pakistan). The track features the beautiful vocals of London-based Tanya Wells, someone I’m also pretty sure you haven’t listened to much of lately. So - we’ve introduced you to a new musical genre and artist all in one short post? Awesome.

In this remake of Mun Kunto Maula, Wells’ vocals glide over gentle guitar strums and rhythmic beat of the tabla (pair of small indian drums) to create a melodic and captivating version of the traditional Manqabat Qawwali song. The track’s progression reveals its beauty slowly, so if it’s not to your liking right away, I’d give it a chance. Maybe even a few listens.

Hopefully we're able to introduce you to something new that you can add to your list of preferred musical genres, but if not, it’s always good to venture outside that indie, alternative, electro box we all know too well. Here’s to new music.
