Hailing from Hackney (London), Mychelle caught our ear last month, and the whole team has been obsessed with her sound ever since, quickly making her debut album Good Day earn a well-deserved spot on the list of most anticipated albums of 2025.
Released on April 30th via FAMM, the album delivers a rich, genre-blending journey through 13 stunning tracks, each brimming with emotion, including the title track, which takes center stage in today’s feature. “It’s my way of saying goodbye to the chapters in my life that created bad days,” she elaborates. “Each time I walked out of the studio with one of these songs, I felt those bad days transforming into something good.”
"Goo Day" is also the album's final sonic offering. The first time I heard the song I ended up in this internal battle over whether I should feel down or elevated. I loved the psychedelic feel of the song, which is further enhanced by the guitar solo towards the end. It gives me a strong late 90s vibe, but with a modern, soulful twist.
Mychelle shares that the song was born out of a tough moment. That day, she stepped into the studio feeling low, but by the time she walked out, she had crafted something that completely shifted her mood. That emotional journey, discovering light in darkness and strength in vulnerability, threads through the entire project, connecting each track in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
She is definitely an artist to keep on your radar this summer. She’ll be joining Jorja Smith (who is also working with FAMM) on her UK tour and bringing her soulful, captivating live energy to major festivals like Across The Tracks and Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.
