After years of building a name for himself by creating some of the most uplifting downtempo and ambient music, Northern Form veers towards UKG on his upcoming album, Noetic. "Old Flame" marks the first single, and throughout this journey, we're acquainted with a variety of instruments we don't occasionally hear alongside UKG. Flashes of saxophone, violin, and folk-inspired vocal chops wash over the pumping Garage-inspired rhythm section - a contrast that definitely stands out in a sea of weekly electronic releases. I can't neglect to mention how the wub bass lines livens the groove and injects a dose of energy into the arrangement.
