Today, we're excited to host the premiere of the upcoming HAELIUM release "Somehow" which is set for official release tomorrow via our friends at Future Archive. This is the 2nd single from his upcoming release and it features more of his signature fusion of indie electronic & downtempo IDM. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder, and Erased Tapes, his work is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism.

We're absolutely honored to be the first one to share this captivating sound with you. In addition, we invite you to explore the music video directed by SERGINSKI which further enhances the whole experience.

We had the pleasure of talking to HAELIUM in a mini-interview about the track, video and his upcoming plans.

How would you describe "Somehow" in a sentence?

"Somehow" is a kind of indie dance track riding the line between dance, indie, and downtempo beats, thus creating a euphoric yet nostalgic feeling.

I absolutely love the video! Is that all your footage? It has it all - love, friendship, party, traveling, but it also feels a bit sad. It feels very personal and intimate! "Somehow" is part of your upcoming Future Archive Expanding. Tell us a bit more about the recording process and what the whole release means to you?

Thanks, I really appreciate it. My talented friend SERGINSKI made the music video: we used many of his photos and footage to create a unique story. We wanted to evoke all the feelings created by life experiences: blending happiness, euphoria as well as nostalgia and so a bit of sadness as you mentioned. We wanted to do something universal that could touch anyone.

Concerning the Expanding release, that’s my second EP after Recovery.  I wanted to make something more open, so vocals became naturally more present. Even if they’re simple, like in the first single « Lost Someone », lyrics are a good way to directly emphasize a feeling.

The artwork also reflects this idea. As opposed to the artwork of “Recovery” which was cavernous with a bit of light, this one is more colorful with a lot of paintings. It’s a sequel of the first EP, keeping a similar musical atmosphere yet adding new elements. Expanding my musical personality. That’s also the reason for the title "Expanding".

What's next in your release timeline and when should we expect the next sonic piece of the puzzle?

My whole Expanding EP will be released on August 20th. I’m also currently working on a lot of new stuff I’m planning to release after this one!
