South London-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Quinn Oulton has the ability to slow down time. The artist reminds me of Oliver Tank - an artist I fell in love with a decade ago. With delicate vocals and intricate production, his music feels godly (and I'm not saying this lightly).
There isn't much info yet, but we're expecting Quinn's forthcoming album, What I Meant To Say, on November 13th. Instantly added to our upcoming albums of 2026 list.
Today we celebrate his new single, "Can We Stay Here Please" - a blend of intricate textures and emotive lyrics, inspired by returning to civilisation after months spent living in a tiny medieval village in the south of France. I got the chills as soon as I heard the song. It is one of those rare compositions where you feel as if the sound materializes and wraps your body. Absolutely mental.
"Lagrasse is the most beautiful place, with a monastery, a river, vineyards, mountains, dogs and cats, and lovely people. Every night we would walk along the raised village walls above the river, the monastery shielded by tall bamboo, and sit by the river or swim. The idea of anything else was frightening and completely impossible to compute at the time," Quinn elaborates.
Moving beyond the rigid boundaries of his classical jazz roots, with this new song, Quinn refuses to be confined by genre and sets the tone for the upcoming album. It will boldly blur the lines between alternative r&b and experimental pop, bringing the two together with nuance, intention, and a deep musical understanding.
