The instrumentation here really reminds me of SZA's more unorthodox works before "CTRL" as Santyna combines elements of Hip Hop, R&B and Indie in her track "Ecdysis".
With each strum of the guitar, the track gets trippier due to their wavy vibrations and atmospheric tones. This works exceptionally well with the vocals since she delivery is emotional yet very mellow. At the time of writing the lyrics she was overcoming major depression, generalized anxiety, PTSD and agoraphobia, thus explaining the heartfelt lyrics.
“When things got really bad for me emotionally it was my working on this EP that made everything feel better and made me feel like I could find happiness in this world.”
