"Symmetrical Girl" is a great introduction to the beautiful work she has put out so far and will take the listener on a rollercoaster of funk, r&b and neo-soul stops. And while it does feel a rather slow-dance kinda vibe, the track is constructed around a heavy and very personal theme.
Shyamala shares, "Symmetrical Girl is from an older version of myself to a younger one. The narrator is both jaded and delighted with having aged out of the visibility and exposure of beauty culture in womanhood: "I don't miss being you/you dread being me."
