Vilde is the musical project of Stockholm-born, Australia-based artist Thomas Savage. These days I've been digging into a lot of alt-pop and indie music, but I still have a hard time figuring how to describe the beautiful music I find. "Spluter" reminds me of a dream pop acts like diiv and Day Wave, but the hopeless romantic feel has definitely turned up on this one.

The track is part of his new album Atopia, a record recorede by Thomas while he has been living a rather nomadic kind of life. He shares

I realised I’d become a bit too comfortable with my recording software. I’d open it up, then start writing parts and throwing them all in. Often they’d end up an amalgamation of ideas without complete cohesion. I wanted to step away from that process this time. I basically didn’t touch the recording program for about 10 months. I’d write ideas and sing and play them into my phone, constantly revisiting some and adding new ones. This was a handy process for the uprooting type of year I ended up having, splitting my time between Australia, France, Norway, Denmark and then finally Sweden, where I produced the album. I had around a hundred sketches/scraps/ideas by the time it came to producing the record. So the recording/mixing process took barely 2 months. Which was shockingly efficient by my standards. From there I went in with David Pye [Wild Beasts, Dido] in Norwich for additional mixing, and sent it off to Eric James [Dame Joan Sutherland, Faithless, James Holden] for mastering.
