My first memories of these guys are from Pinkpop 2012 where I didn't get to see them live. But then Mumford & Sons were playing and there were some weird looking punks standing next to me: drunk, strange outfit, funny hair, British accent and a huuuge joint. Just normal festival people. Some people started taking pictures with them, so I assumed they have actually been performing and when I got home I gave it a listen.
Will And The People are incredible! The guys are coming from London and touring a lot around Europe at the moment. I absolutely love their Facebook updates, when they are saying that they are passing the Netherlands and if somebody with the Dutch passport can get them some weed. Cracks me up! Crazy cheerful tunes, a bit of reggae, a bit of ska, a bit of funk – perfect spring treat. Or at least helps with the anticipation.
"Lion in the Morning Sun" is their 2012 single and somehow it's very young and energetic, just like the band itself. Crazy rhythm and genre changes from ska to reggae and indie rock make the song really special and fun to listen to. Oh happy days!
