Yoni Mayraz is a rising London-based jazz artist known for blending jazz with hip-hop, breakbeats, and Middle Eastern influences, all of which whirled together to create an outerworldly genre-bending forward-thinking sound.
Yoni marked his spot in the world of jazz thanks to his highly acclaimed debut Rough Cuts EP in 2020, followed by his debut full-length album Dybbuk Tse!, of which earned the producer/keyboardist a well-deserved widespread praise and global recognition from KEXP, KCRW, Bandcamp Daily, Gilles Peterson (BBC6), and TJ Gorton (SF Jazz). Mayraz has spent the last couple of years honing his skills and earning fans performing live at venues and festivals like the Montreux Jazz Festival, The Jazz Cafe London, and Ronnie Scott’s London, and is now set to continue his innovative exploration of modern jazz with a new album set for release in the fall of 2025.
The record will be released via Pino Palladino & David Passick's new PPK Records and will feature bassist Tom Driessler (Yussef Dayes, Adele) and Portuguese drumming prodigy Zoe Pascal. Today, we get to try a first taste of what's coming ahead, thanks to "Rooftops" - a masterpiece that juxtaposes melancholic strings and soothing jazzy keys against dynamic and powerful drumming. I'm personally all in for this and can't wait to hear more from Yoni!
