Swedish producer and DJ Anna-My must be one of those powerful sorceress because within a few minutes of her debut EP, In Motion, Always (produced alongside Agrin Rahmani), my room magically transformed into an underground club somewhere in the Nordics. Earlier this year, she teased us a first taste of her sound that feels both fresh and deeply lived-in. A result of over a decade spent behind the decks across the underground scenes of Stockholm, New York, and London. I'm all in for that! Built on elements employed from dreamy electronica, pulsating tech-house, synthwave energy and raw club emotions, the 5-track release is a reflection of Anna's life - constant motion and pursuit driven by dreams and aspirations. Isn' that the beauty of life itself? Never being stale.
Since her debut in Spring of this year, Anna-My has earned praise from outlets like We Rave You and Parkett, plus her tracks being played on stations like Triple J and WNYU, and live sets taking her on a journey from the Swedish Grammis, all the way to HÖR Berlin.
"I’ve always been a restless soul. Movement is in my DNA. For as long as I can remember, electronic music has been my way of escaping - physically, mentally, emotionally, and creatively. Sometimes forward, sometimes backward, sometimes away from something, sometimes toward something new. But never still. This EP is a musical self-portrait, an extension of the feelings, memories, and places that have left a mark. I hope it takes you on your own adventures, wherever you want to go <3", the talented Swede elaborates.
The EP, released via Genesis Records, kicks off with a funky synthbassline and a track which title instantly teleports you to the underground clubs of Tokyo. "Shibuya" is the ultimate bouncy smoothness and the perfect way to set the premise for what awaits you during your In Motion, Always journey. It also carries that distinct Nordic pop flair, the kind that instantly makes you want to move. It reminds me of the energy at those Scandinavian alt-pop nights my friends throw. Always a vibe.
I also appreciate the incorporation of her own memories in the soothing abstract self-titled interlude, "Anna". It made me feel a stronger personal connection with her which made the whole experience so much more special. It all weaves perfectly together into "Memoria", which she dropped as a single earlier this year. The song reminded me of Cut Copy and Ladydrop, but with a groovier swing. It also serves as an indication we're about to up the tempo in our underground club.

Given the fact that we're entering the peak of the night thanks, it only makes sense that EP's track, "Luigi", kicks things up a notch. Song's upbeat drum machines and arcade-like synth flashes set the stage for the explosive closer "Traits", a euphoric club cut where heavy basslines and raw emotion collide, featuring soul-touching vocals from alt r&b artist Harrison First. If you like Channel Tres, you'll be obsessed with this trck. There’s so much raw power here — the kind that, when it hits just right, stays with you long after the night ends. Can’t wait to feel this one on an actual dancefloor.

In Motion, Always is one of those pieces of music I feel could be timeless and I am so happy I get to find young and talented artists like Anna-My. Mark my words, this is just the beginning.
