Since a few days I keep seeing people tweeting about quickly, quickly's debut EP over skies and since Graham has been someone I wanted to feature for a long time, I thought it would be the perfect starting point. His name has popped up quite a few times especially in other artists' interview and his music was featured in Cody G's, invention_ and Engelwood's mixes.

This has been one of the first intense Sundays I had where I spent most of the day outside enjoying the life. While my leg still hurts it felt good and somehow exhausting. So, coming back to this absolutely gorgeous release titled over skies felt like the best way to end up a chilled weekend.

The 5 songs EP starts with "stilted". I was in love as soon as this track finished playing. At this point I knew I need to share this with you and write my thoughts as they pour while floating around the multi-layered beats created by the US producer. By the way, while age doesn't matter quickly, quickly is just 17 and it blows my mind how young producers nowadays can be so damn creative.

I guess because I've heard his other stuff and have read some reviews, I was preparing myself a lot of boombap, lofi, jazzhop and chillhop, but "stillted" felt a lot more "electronic" than I was expecting. Equal amount of chill, but somehow beautifully different. I couldn't stop thinking of the Tycho's early work and also Shigeto. The song put me in a zen mode from the get-go - it was a nice interlude for album's next 4 tracks. It might be weird, but if you ask me which of those tracks I would play on repeat, that would be the intro... for now at least.

"swingtheory" and "ghost" definitely expand on the experimental electronic world created by quickly, quickly, but you definitely pick those jazzhop / chillhop traces while cruising those beats.

It was hard to somehow try to "map" the sound journey of over skies, so I think I won't try to do it. I didn't necessary found a pattern, but it all felt somehow nicely glued together. I think "lie" - EP's 3rd track is definitely another piece that grew on me pretty much from the first time I played it. It has a nice futuristic r&b vibe to it and similarly to the intro is quite gentle and ... idk, it sounds like something I would love to listen to while floating around on my back in a aquamarine blue coloured swimming pool somewhere fr away.

If you're looking for something more upbeat, then "is only you knew" is definitely your weapon of choice. The nice clubby vibe and those beautifully chopped vocals are definitely a shortcut to groovines. That being said, there's something somehow mellow about the track, but it might be a personal interpretation.

In general, I find over skies a must-hear experience for anyone who values good music. It's a nice blend of genres ranging from jazz to instrumental hip hop and all the ways to futuristic bassy kicks. To say I am impressed would be an understatement. I should have got on the quickly, quickly train long time ago. Definitely expect a lot of features from now on. Have a great Sunday evening!
