As soon as anyone asks me for a recommendation to liven up their current stagnant playlist, this guy is always the first name from my lips.

The highlight of 2015 for me (at least musically) was Barn on the Farm Festival, for many reasons but not least of which was the chance to catch Alex Vargas serenading from the apex of a barn with the sun on my back & a jug of cider in hand.

An artist that has been on top of his game ever since his debut release, just continues to kick out stellar records, the latest of which is his "Giving Up The Ghost" EP which features a couple of recycled tracks from previous releases but also a couple of fresh tracks which include "Shackled Up"*.

"Shackled Up" is standard Vargas, in such that it's a track borne of pure songwriting foundations but rippled with his trademark synth style.

*You can also catch the EP's title track "Giving Up The Ghost" here.
