Hi, friends.
Long overdue, but if you've been with us since 2013, you know - we like to take our sweet time making changes. Going forward, I’ll try to document and explain more of the things we are doing behind the scenes. Something people like to call building in public.
I hope this is just the beginning of many great things we’ll build together in the years ahead.
A big thank you to our technical team (and my mates), Darius and Boris, for all the work that went into making this happen. And, of course, none of this would exist without the people who keep Stereofox alive by constantly finding and sharing new music - Nasko, Lu, Martina, Hristo, Geri, Anna, and everyone else who has left their mark on this little corner of the internet since we started in 2013.
What's new?
As of today, October 5th, we're launching a few new changes.
Stay up to date.
New music and exclusive updates in your inbox weekly.
- A new music player for stereofox.com and a number of other significant updates across the website
- Brand-new Apple Music integration and better playback
- New and improved playlist covers
- A new home for our music discovery and curation - @stereofox.fm on Instagram, while @wearestereofox puts the spotlight on our label, artists, and the industry as a whole
A better Stereofox.com
Besides a visual refresh, some UI fixes, and a few tweaks to our brand colours, we’re also introducing a handful of new functionalities.
- Brand-new mobile player - visible artwork and better volume/timeline control
- The ability to browse music by both genre and mood
- Direct integration with Apple Music and Spotify
Back in the day, our music player was powered by SoundCloud's API, which made things beautifully simple. Unfortunately, they changed how this works in 2026, which meant we had to adapt and switch to YouTube. It works, but let's be honest - it’s not quite the experience we would like to give you. Because of YouTube's requirements, you will notice the iframe sitting in the corner of our player. Not much we can do about that, friends.

How to make the most of our website
If you want to have a better experience (and we hope you do), you are now able to do that by logging in with your Spotify or Apple Music accounts. That would allow us to power up the music player directly from one of the platforms, and in addition, you gain one more extra perk - you will be able to add songs we've featured to your favourites without leaving the website.
If you don't use any of these platforms, you can still curate your own Stereofox playlist within our platform.

New visuals, new playlists
Writing about music has always been the backbone of Stereofox. Giving a song context, whether that's how it makes us feel or something straight from the artist, and letting people hear the music alongside it matters to us. Nowadays, the story behind the music matters more than ever.
That said, we've never been only about words. Playlists, social posts, covers, and everything else we put out are part of how we share music. For a long time, each of those things was made on its own. A cover was designed here, a post was put together there, and the visual side came together pretty randomly. Over the years, that turned into a patchwork that didn't feel like Stereofox, and didn't match the love and care we put into the actual music selection. Needless to say, we haven't been happy with it for a while.
We wanted to do better, so we turned to our friends at punkt. After a very open-minded creative session with the whole team, they helped us build a new, unified brand language. It has a wider range of colours, a font that represents what we stand for, and a visual system that ties everything together. The goal was simple - be recognisable wherever you find us, and carry the Stereofox DNA into everything creative we do.

Over the coming weeks, you'll see it roll out across our channels, from Instagram to Spotify and everywhere in between.
We're starting with the playlists. Curating them has always given us a lot of freedom - following a feeling or a vibe, and sometimes ignoring the rules completely. They are also where the old visual mess showed the most, so they got the full treatment! We changed the sonic direction of some, said goodbye to others, and made room for a few new ones. Every one of them now has a cover that belongs to the same family.
We curate them on most major streaming platforms (and on our website), so wherever you listen, you should be able to find us. If we're missing something, just holler at us.
Yes, we made another Instagram account
Do we really need a second Instagram account, and why do we do this when we already (I think) failed at our first one?
@wearestereofox is over 10 years old. That means a lot of people have followed us for very different reasons over the years. Some came for the blog, the podcast, or the playlists, others because of the label, and some probably just forgot they followed us somewhere along the way.
The bigger issue is that Stereofox has grown into two equally important things - curation and a record label, and trying to fit both into one Instagram account has become confusing. Are we a music blog? A playlist curator? A record label? Well, actually we're all that, and more. However, we realised they deserve their own space.
So we’re starting fresh with @stereofox.fm. This will be our home for the music we discover, the playlists we curate, and everything that makes Stereofox a great (we hope) place to find new music and support upcoming artists.
Meanwhile, @wearestereofox will put more of the spotlight on our label artists, releases, and the world around Stereofox Records. We also want to share more of the industry knowledge we learn along our journey.
Two accounts. Clearer roles. One Stereofox.
What's next?
I know us. We'll take a short breather and very soon will feel the itch to change and test something new.
Personally, I think it would be great to improve personalization and provide better recommendations to all who create accounts on the platform. Of course, that's not all up to me, so let's see.
Want to help? Share your feedback with us!
See you soon.
