Sighting the musical stylings of Portishead and the rich, jazz filled rhythms of Nina Simone amongst her biggest influences, East London producer and singer Chinwe’s brooding soundscapes glitter with rich instrumentals and her warm vocal timbre. Having played classical violin as a child, the self-taught multi-instrumentalist started writing songs as a teenager and exploring production as another outlet for her creativity. During lockdown she began experimenting with the harp - an instrument which features heavily on her new releases and has helped to further shape her unique sound. Following the release of her debut EP Scar Tissue, with support from the likes of Complex, Wonderland, Fred Perry Subculture, BBC 1XTRA (Jamz Supernova) and BBC Introducing (Tom Robinson), Chinwe ushers in a new era as she sets her sights on her sophomore EP project - due for release early 2023.
